The Wall Street Journal reports that shopping center operator Kimco Realty Corp. has received a supboena from the Securities and Exchange Commission related to the case against Wal-Mart in Mexico. In 2012, it was discovered that Wal-Mart executives may have paid bribes to Mexican officials in order to speed up the chain's expansion in the country.
It is not clear at this point whether Kimco is considered a witness or a suspect in the case. The REIT's executives said they plan to cooperate with the investigation.
