NREI's sister publication, Supermarket News, reports that Cerberus Capital Management has made a bid for Harris Teeter. Cerberus recently acquired a number of brands from another major grocery store operators, Albertsons LLC.
Harris Teeter, headquartered in North Carolina, currently operates 211 stores. The company reported a same-store sales increase of 3.66 percent for the second quarter of 2013.
