Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s Community Under Development In Metro Dallas

The Cirrus Group and its development partner, the McFarlin Group, recently broke ground on a new senior assisted living and Alzheimer’s community in McKinney, Texas, north of Dallas. The $14 million community, Orchard Park of McKinney, located at 3392 Medical Center Drive, is expected to open in early 2011.

Upon completion, Orchard Park will offer 67 apartment-style assisted living residences and 30 memory care residences. Good Neighbor Care, the nation’s 17th largest operator of assisted living communities with more than 50 senior living properties under management across the U.S. and 1,700 employees, will assist with daily operations.

The groundbreaking took place in May. “We are honored to be expanding services to seniors in McKinney and Collin County,” says Jason Dodd, president of The Cirrus Group http://www.thecirrusgroup.com, one of the Dallas area’s largest health care development companies.

“This new offering at Orchard Park of McKinney builds upon our mission of providing services and settings that empower people to live fully even when they are living with substantial challenges, such as Alzheimer’s,” adds Dodd.

The Cirrus Group previously developed the two-story Hospital at Craig Ranch as well as the Medical Center at Craig Ranch, the latter specializing in pain medicine. Both facilities are located in the City of McKinney.

Orchard Park of McKinney is not your typical assisted living community, explains Matt Johnson, principal of Dallas-based McFarlin Group www.mcfarlin-group.com, a consultant and developer serving the senior housing industry.

“We have included full kitchens and laundry machines in each assisted living residence so that our residents and their families can enjoy conveniences similar to what they have in their current home. We are unlike anything currently available to seniors in the Dallas area today,” says Johnson.

Dustin Pridmore, a principal with McFarlin Group, adds that Orchard Park of McKinney is one of only approximately 10 projects across the country that have been able to access debt financing through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for new construction of assisted living facilities over the past 18 months.
