CHICAGO—Astellas Pharma US Inc. has completed its $150 million, 446,000-sq.-ft., build-to-suit project at Headquarters for the Americas in Northbrook.
GlenStar Properties LLC was the developer of the project and MB Real Estate was the overall project manager. Andrew Davidson, executive vice president and managing director of corporate services, along with David Burkards and Kyle Robbins, vice presidents of MB Real Estate’s Corporate Services group, began working with Astellas in 2007.
Goettsch Partners served as architect for the base building, and worked with SmithGroupJJR, which provided interior architecture services, including furniture, fixtures, equipment and wayfinding systems. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were managed by WMA Consulting Engineers Ltd. and Power Construction Company LLC delivered the project as general contractor.
The new Astellas Headquarters for the Americas facility has applied for LEED Gold Certification. Green features of the property include a geothermal heating and cooling system, an energy-efficient lighting system and a window curtain wall, which allows for natural light.
The build-to-suit project includes covered parking, a fitness center and conference center.
