Stamford-Based Starwood Plans San Jose Debut with Westin

STAMFORD—Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. has announced its plan to introduce its Westin brand to San Jose, Calif. Owned by SCH Partners, The Westin San Jose is slated to open in July 2013.

The new hotel will be situated across the street from the recently expanded San Jose McEnery Convention Center.

Prior to its opening in 2013, the hotel will undergo a comprehensive renovation, and, upon delivery, will be comprised of 171 guestrooms, including 16 suites.

The Westin San Jose will offer a downtown location with close proximity to businesses such as Apple, Google and eBay. Situated next to the California Theater, the hotel will also offer close proximity to American Musical Theater of San Jose, San Jose Repertory Theater and San Jose Symphony & Civic Light Opera. Also nearby are HP Pavilion, Logitech Ice, San Jose State University, Santa Clara University and shops and restaurants.

The property also offers 10,000 sq. ft. of renovated meeting space, a full-service restaurant, fitness center and 24-hour business center.

Built in 1926, the building is a National Historic Landmark and was originally opened as the Sainte Claire hotel.
