ATLANTA — In an effort to combat Atlanta’s increasing traffic congestion and environmental problems, and to consolidate operations along transportation hubs, Atlanta-based BellSouth Corp. has opened Lenox Park’s Building 2180. Located at 2180 Lake Blvd. in Buckhead, the office facility is the first property of three new business sites totaling 3.1 million sq. ft. to be completed as part of BellSouth’s Metro Plan.
A second building, located at 1025 Lenox Park Blvd., is under construction and is slated for completion in November 2001. A total of six buildings in these sites will be constructed, and three existing buildings have been purchased. Carter & Associates is the developer representing BellSouth’s interest in the Metro Plan.
The BellSouth Metro Plan team analyzed approximately 75 of the company’s urban and suburban offices and executed the plan to consolidate more than 23 of those offices into three business centers, which will be strategically located adjacent to Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail lines at the Lenox, Lindbergh and North Avenue stations. "One of our goals in implementing the Atlanta Metro Plan has been to build great places to work," said Becky Dunn, BellSouth’s vice president of shared services.
Nearly 15,000 BellSouth employees will have mass transit access to their jobs by 2003, including both existing company buildings and those in the Metro Plan.
