Construction has started on ENDESA S.A.'s headquarters in Madrid, Spain. London-based Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates is developing the project. The office building will be located on a site north of Madrid and will mark the entrance to the El Campo de las Naciones Business Park. Construction is scheuled for completion in late 2001.
The six-story building will have approximately 376,600 sq. ft. of net office space and 269,000 sq. ft. of public space and office support facilities. The building will also feature a lower ground mezzanine that will have underneath parking for approximately 1,070 cars.
The headquarters will have two separate levels of office space that will be linked by a central atrium that will sit underneath a highly engineered layered roof that will define the building. The building will also feature a roof that will act as a translucent barrier, which will protect building users from weather conditions outside.
