The U.S. Green Building Council’s Florida Gulf Coast Chapter has named MetWest One Outstanding Project of the Year in the core and shell category. MetWest One tenant PBS&J was also named Outstanding Project of the Year in the commercial interiors category.
“We are pleased to have MetWest One recognized once again for its sustainable design and construction,” said Chuck Davis, regional director of MetLife’s Tampa real estate investment office in a statement. “MetLife is committed to operating energy-efficient and environmentally viable properties that will not only benefit current and future tenants, but also will help preserve the planet.”
MetWest One is located in MetWest International, a mixed-use center being redeveloped by MetLife. The office building has been previously been recognized for integrating green building practices and principles into its project design and other attributes.
Located across from Tampa International Airport and International Plaza, MetWest International includes the existing One MetroCenter and MetWest One, the first of three new office buildings. The two later phases are unscheduled. In all, nearly 1 million sq. ft. of Class-A office space is planned, along with a 74,200 sq. ft. retail village, a 260-room hotel and 254 residential units.
