COLTON, CA – The Hodgdon Group, a full-service brokerage, development, construction and project management company, announced today that that it has completed construction of the conversion of the former Sports Authority building in Folsom, Calif., for the opening of an Ashley Furniture HomeStore on August 23, 2013. Hodgdon Group's HMC Construction, Inc. handled all entitlements and served as the design-build contractor for the major renovation of the 32,000-square-foot freestanding building located in Broadstone Plaza at2799 East Bidwell Street in the City of Folsom.
Hodgdon Group, along with Chris Campbell of CBRE, represented Ashley in the lease transaction; Jon Schultz of CBRE represented the owner. Ashley Furniture joins retailers Home Depot, Total Wine, Ross, Michaels, Marshalls, Stein Mart, Old Navy, Pier 1 Imports and Cost Plus World Market. The Hodgdon group of companies have been working with Ashley for more than a decade on various real estate and construction projects. The Folsom location represents the 17th Ashley Furniture HomeStore to be completed by the Hodgdon Group.
Hodgdon Group's HMC Construction was the full service design-build contractor for the major renovation of the building. The firm was responsible for hiring the architect and engineering firms and working with the various municipal agencies to obtain the necessary entitlements and permits.
"Re-purposing a building to fit another tenant's specifications requires considerable experience, which we have," said Aaron Hodgdon, president of Hodgdon Group. "We worked closely with Ashley's designers and our construction team to build out both the interior of the building."

Hodgdon Group's Dan Wallner served as the Project Manager and Greg Phelan as the Superintendent; Nick Hawkins of BRR Architecture, Inc. of Merriam, Kansas served as the architect.
In Sacramento, Hodgdon Group's HMC Construction is also building a Burlington Coat Factory at 3671 North Freeway Boulevard in North Natomas. Aaron Hodgdon of Hodgdon Group Realty, along with Chris Campbell of CBRE, represented the landlord, and Kent DeSpain of Retail West represented Burlington Coat Factory in the lease transaction.
