CHICAGO – The Thornton Tomasetti Board of Directors and Managing Principals announce the promotion of David Weihing, P.E., S.E., LEED AP, to principal in the Chicago office of the international engineering firm.
Mr. Weihing has more than 18 years of experience in the development and management of structural designs for local, national and international projects. His collaborative approach to meeting project-wide goals has made him a leader in innovative project delivery methods, including integrated project delivery (IPD).
His project credits include design for commercial high-rise, healthcare, residential, sports and specialty structures, as well as damage assessment, investigation and repair of existing structures.
Mr. Weihing is the author of several professional papers and has presented on a variety of topics, from how to improve collaboration between architects and engineers to structural issues in healthcare design. He is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois (SEAOI) and American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).
He is a licensed structural and professional engineer in Illinois and a LEEDAccredited Professional. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and undertook graduate studies at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
