Update: Family Dollar has rejected Dollar General's offer in favor of Dollar Tree, citing antitrust issues. Also, news emerged that Dollar General executives now feel misled, as they approached Family Dollar about a potential sale back in June and weren't told a rival offer may be on the table. This seems far from over.
