NEW YORK – Metropolitan West, the newest event venue to hit New York City’s West Side, is an impressive 24,000 square foot building that dates back to 1920 but more recently housed the H&H Bagel Factory. There is no doubt that the building’s architecture will radiate the nearly 100 years of history within its walls.
Metropolitan West will integrate original architectural elements into its design and preserve many original features in the remodel which is currently underway—from the upper façade’s distinctive variegated profile with Art Deco architectural details to the interior’s brick walls and iron columns. Behind a modernized, sun-bathed window configuration, the venue’s spacious two floors are connected by a staircase and boast 14-foot high ceilings. The ultimate result of the building’s remodel will be a fresh look inspired by all of the building’s unique historical components.
While Metropolitan West’s façade and interior embrace the past, the rooftop features stunning views of a more modern New York, including Hudson River Park, the flight deck of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum—the home of the space shuttle Enterprise—and new high-rise hotels. Once bustling with oyster barges and oil companies, the area today is a popular location for tourists and is expected to see further commercial and residential development.
Being nestled in the heart of the burgeoning Far West Side, with convenient access to the West Side Highway, numerous destination restaurants, the bustling Theater District and Times Square puts Metropolitan West in prime geographic location.
