Perhaps they should do like other box retail operators - reduce footprint and lease out the excess space. Or, maybe just throw in the towel and monetize the real estate...

I recently purchased an appliance at Sears and they are doing a lot of things right. Service is good, product variety is good, technology is good (emailed receipts, mobile devices that replace cash registers, website that is on par with other major retailers), incentives are good (points based on purchases allowed me to buy a barbeque accessory for free). But I realize the competition is hazardous to Sears' health. I will continue to shop at Sears and I hope they stay in business.
