RCA’s Third Quarter 2010 Retail Investment Sales Trends

  • Retail investment sales volume in the third quarter amounted to $5.6 billion—up from $3.1 billion in the second quarter. It was the second most active quarter for significant retail deals since the first quarter of 2008.
  • Total volume year-to-date in the retail sector has amounted to $11.9 billion. The volume during the same period in 2009 was just $6.7 billion, putting the industry on track to exceed 2009’s full year figure of $13.1 billion.
  • The increase was bolstered by the closing of Simon’s $2.3 billion acquisition of a portfolio from Prime Outlets.
