MINNEAPOLIS—Polaris Industries Inc. has broken ground on a 144,000-sq.-ft. expansion to its existing 126,000-sq.-ft. building, more than doubling the size of its product development center near Wyoming, Minn.

The construction effort will be led by Minneapolis-based Ryan Companies U.S., the same firm that led construction on the original building in 2005. The expansion projects is slated for completion in the summer of 2013.

“We are thankful for our continued partnership with Polaris, and excited that they chose to expand operations here in Minnesota,” Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) Commissioner Mark Phillips said. “This investment is an important boost to the local economy and will help maintain Polaris’ place as an industry leader and innovator.”

The new space will provide large work bays, flexible conference and display space, a new electrical lab and a new EMI room, as well as the expansion of café and kitchen spaces. A new parking lot will be added to accommodate additional employees.

Polaris designs, engineers, manufactures and markets off-road vehicles (ORVs), including all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), snowmobiles, motorcycles and on-road electric/hybrid powered vehicles.
