Avidan Management Receives Urban Green Council's EBie Award

NEW JERSEYEdison-based Avidan Management has been named a recipient of a 2012 EBie Award by the U.S. Green Building Council's New York chapter, Urban Green Council. The awards are a nationwide, juried competition that recognizes measurable environmental performance improvements in existing buildings among building owners and operators, property managers, engineers, consultants, retro-commissioning agents and lighting designers.

Avidan Management received "The Reformed Gas Guzzler" EBie Award, which recognized the company’s 145 Talmadge Road for its energy savings. The 656,255-sq.-ft. warehouse and office complex in Edison underwent a 4.26-megawatt solar power installation and other energy efficiency upgrades last year.

To date, the solar installation has produced more than 7.7 million kilowatt-hours -- enough energy to service half of the power needs of the building's multiple tenants, which use the facility as office space, as well as for the refrigeration of frozen and dry goods.

In addition to the solar installation, Avidan retrofitted the building, maximizing its energy efficiency.
