EAST BRUNSWICK—NAIOP New Jersey’s Annual Public Policy Symposium on March 7, 2012, will take on a new format. The event is slated for the East Brunswick Hilton, with registration and breakfast/networking beginning at 7:45 a.m. and the program at 8:30 a.m.
“Our members told us they want to hear more from Senate President Steve Sweeney,” said Michael McGuinness, CEO of NAIOP New Jersey. “This event will be a prime opportunity to hear his plans for the new legislative session and to directly ask him questions about those plans and more.”
The Symposium will also feature a topical panel discussion of public and private sector leaders focusing on the topic, “The New Jersey Comeback: Incentives for Attracting and Retaining Jobs and Tenants.” Business incentives continue to be a topic of debate in the state, and this discussion will cover a variety of angles—the details of the new Grow New Jersey Assistance program to “net benefits” tests, the “fine print” of qualifying for programs, engaging brokers and tenants in the ongoing process of business incentives in New Jersey, financial and otherwise, and more.
The panel of public/private speakers will include: Caren Franzini, New Jersey EDA; Tracye McDaniel of Choose New Jersey (invited); Ted Zangari, Sills Cummis & Gross, PC; David Opper, CB Richard Ellis; Tim Lizura, New Jersey EDA; Mayor John McCormac of Woodbridge; Todd Anderson of The Hampshire Companies; Lauren Moore of the New Jersey Business Action Center; and additional speakers to be announced. The panel will dialogue to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the life cycle of a development project relative to New Jersey’s business climate, tax policy and incentive programs.
