Work Begins on 102 State Street, Hackensack

NEW JERSEYDMR Architects has begun redevelopments and rehabilitation of 102 State Street in Hackensack. Led by Francis Reiner, DMR is working with the City of Hackensack to redevelop a specific area within the 163-acre area in need of rehabilitation.

The site is the home of the former Masonic Temple. Constructed in 1870, the Masonic Temple was previously vacant, for sale and in arrears.

In 2010, the City of Hackensack purchased the building and hired DMR to complete two phases of work at the property. The first phase includes converting the building into a Cultural and Performing Arts Center. In addition, an adjacent parking lot will be renovated to become a public park with outdoor performance space.

The building, which is nearing the completion of planned phase one of improvements, will open as a Cultural Arts Center.

The second phase of work will include renovations to the second floor of the facility, delivering a performing arts center upon completion.
