NEW YORK CITY—The New York State Council on the Arts, which supports the activities of arts and cultural organizations throughout the state, will move its headquarters to Rockrose Development Corp.'s 300 Park Avenue South from its present office at 175 Varick Street. The Council will join other arts, fashion and cultural institutions in the building, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, Wilhelmina Models and the arts publisher Rizzoli International Publications.
Chairman of the Council Aby Rosen, co-founder of the real estate firm RFR Holding LLC, is also known for his private art collection. He intends to showcase art in the Council’s space as well as in 300 Park Avenue South’s lobby. The Council will begin move-in plans immediately and is expected to occupy the space by early in the 2nd Quarter of 2012.
The architecture firm of Moed, de Armas & Shannon recently renovated and modernized the building’s lobby, elevators and common areas. Rockrose also plans to illuminate the building’s oversized arched windows at night.
The Council negotiated the 10-year lease transaction directly. Andrew Peretz, John Peters, and Mikael Nahmias of Cushman and Wakefield negotiated on behalf of the building owner. Craig Deitelzweig, head of Rockrose’s office division, represented Rockrose in-house.
