NAMES IN THE NEWS

CHARLES ELDER has been promoted to senior vice president for Hines' southwest regional office. Elder joined the firm in 1980 as a property manager for Houston-based One Shell Plaza and Two Shell Plaza, where he also oversaw the buildings' renovations. Later, as a project manager, he was instrumental in the development of projects that included: the 1.3 million sq. ft. former Enron building and the redevelopment of 1111 Louisiana, all in Houston. Most recently, Elder was responsible for the development of the new Sysco headquarters in west Houston, and is also working closely with the Baylor College of Medicine on its new and renovated facilities.

JOHN WALDBAUM was promoted to president and CEO of Pacific Realty Group. Scott Heider was promoted to president of Grubb & Ellis/Pacific Realty and Mark Robinson was promoted to executive vice president and COO of Pacific Realty Group.

GREGORY SPEVOK has been promoted to managing director of LaSalle Bank's newly formed corporate capital markets group. Spevok will continue to oversee all aspects of the real estate capital markets group with combined annual originations of more than $5 billion. Prior to joining LaSalle, Spevok was the director of originations for Bear Stearn's CMBS unit.

DARIANN ROSE and KATHERINE SAUNDERS have been promoted to vice president at Development Counsellors International (DCI), a leading specialist in community marketing for tourism and business investment. Since joining DCI in 2003, Rose has served nearly two dozen communities, from Topeka to Taipei. Saunders, who also joined DCI in 2003, has worked with economic development agencies on projects in New York's Hudson Valley, Jacksonville, Fla., the United Kingdom and Puerto Rico.
