NAMES IN THE NEWS

Thomas Owens has been promoted to executive vice president of Hines in the firm's Houston office. He will assume the responsibility of chief risk officer for investments worldwide and serve as a member of the investment committee for all Hines funds. Owens joined Hines in 1973 and has managed four venture funds, all of which have been monetized.

Patrick Kent has joined Irvine, Calif.-based Hanley Investment Group Real Estate Advisors as senior vice president. He will be responsible for providing disposition and acquisition advisory services to clients. Previously, he was a director at Faris Lee Investments of Irvine, Calif.

Collin Wheeler has joined Jones Lang LaSalle's Columbus office as vice president in the firm's tenant representation team. He will be responsible for tenant representation in the Central Ohio region. Previously Wheeler served as a tenant representative for Studley in Washington, D.C.

John Leonard has been promoted to first vice president of Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services in the firm's Atlanta office. He will serve as regional manager and as East Coast director of the company's special asset services division. He joined Marcus & Millichap in 1995.
