Dale and Thomas, sellers of gourmet popcorn, opened seven new stores in the United States. The new locations include Bridgewater Commons, N.J., Quincy Market in Boston, Mass., and Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Genesco Inc. subsidiary Hat World completed the acquisition of all the outstanding stock of Hat Shack, Inc. for the price of $16.6 million. Hat Shack operates 49 headwear stores in 10 states, primarily in southeastern United States. Late in 2006, Hat World announced plans to acquire the Marietta, Ga.-based Hat Shack for a total of $18 million.

Goody's, a retailer of moderately priced family apparel, appointed Charles Turlinski as company CEO, effective Feb. 14. Turlinski has 10 years of experience in senior management positions and most recently served as CEO of The Limited.

Marc Jacobs signed a lease for its first freestanding store in Chicago, Ill. The store will contain 4,000 square feet of space on Damen Ave. in the city's Bucktown/WickerPark neighborhood. Opening is scheduled for the summer of 2007. Janika Brenner,Anthony Campagni and Adam Secher, of Baum Realty Group, represented the landlord in the lease negotiations.

Chipotle Mexican Grill will move its Denver headquarters to the soon-to-be-constructed, mixed-use building at 1401 Wynkoop St. The company will take 43,000 square feet at the new project and is scheduled to move in late 2008.

MoviebankUSA, an automated video rental store chain specializing in DVDs and video game units, opened its first location Northwest Reno, Nev., last month.

Lowe's Cos. announced in January that it would expand into Mexico. The company expects to open three to five stores in Monterrey in 2009, investing about $20 million in each new store.
