Vornado Realty Trust was swirling in retail news in March. First, it partnered with two other firms to buy Toys ‘R’ Us. Then it acquired the 17,000-square-foot retail condominium portion of the former Westbury Hotel for $113 million. Vornado also gave its blessing to the Sears/Kmart megamerger. It owns a 4.3 percent stake in Sears, and was reported to have been interested in buying the company before the Toys ‘R’ Us deal firmed up.
