Two Retail Leases Signed at Upcoming Station Project

MINNEAPOLIS—The retail portion of the 97-unit Station on Washington apartment complex, located near the University of Minnesota’s East Bank Campus, has now been leased.

Walgreens has signed for 7,000 sq. ft. and Haiku Sushu will occupy 4,000 sq. ft. at the mixed-use property. Since breaking ground last fall, the Station continues to be on schedule with the apartment complex slated to be open in late August 2013, prior to the start of the fall academic semester. Residential interest in this property remains high with leases signed for more than half of the 97 units, says Matt Rauenhorst, senior director of real estate development at Opus Development Co. LLC.

“We’re pleased to attract two great tenants that will offer convenience as well as enhance students’ living experiences,” he says in a statement. “Residential leasing remains strong as students seek apartment living with close proximity to campus and the light-rail corridor.”

Amy Carlson with Colliers International represented Opus in both transactions. Walgreens was self-represented and Haiku Sushi was represented by Mike Zirbes and Jeff Brown with North Rock Real Estate.
