Sensormatic introduces system to measure pedestrian traffic

Boca Raton, Fla. – Locally based Sensormatic Electronics Corp. recently introduced a system for tracking the success of retail marketing promotions and improving business operations by counting the amount of consumer traffic passing through doorways or areas.

The system, named PedMon, uses sensors and a graphical interface to monitor the immediate occupancy of monitored zones. The data collected by the sensors can be exported for production of reports including pedestrian flow patterns, prediction of peak loads through historical sampling and staff to consumer ratio.

These reports can help determine if store promotions have succeeded in increasing customer foot traffic and help to predict and prepare for a store’s busy period.
