PRESS RELEASE: The Alhambra Bolsters Tenant Relationships With University Of Southern California, Alliant International University, And The Los Angeles County Department Of Public Health

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Ratkovich Company today announced three anchor tenants at The Alhambra, a premier 45-acre, mixed-use property located in the City of Alhambra, have renewed and expanded their leases.  The Alhambra has worked with the University of Southern California (USC), Alliant International University and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to renovate, shift and expand their spaces to address their evolving needs.

“Our growing relationship with these long-term tenants is a testament to our commitment to work with tenants and ensure we are best supporting their long term success,” said Wayne Ratkovich, founder and president of The Ratkovich Company. “Students, faculty and staff come to The Alhambra every day to learn and give back to our community; we’re proud to have created a campus for them that is flexible, environmentally conscious, and sustainable.”

USC has renewed 59,000 square feet of space through 2020, for use by Keck Medicine of USC, which includes the Keck School of Medicine of USC.  USC has long leveraged The Alhambra’s proximity to its health sciences campus to support its growing community of students and faculty. The Keck School’s Primary Care Physician Assistant Program, the Department of Family Medicine and USC Care are housed at The Alhambra; along with additional USC offices and support functions, The Alhambra serves more than 400 USC students and staff. John Zanetos and Christopher Penrose with CBRE represented The Ratkovich Company with Steve Wallbridge and David Gordon of Studley representing USC.

Alliant International University, which has called The Alhambra home since 1990, has renewed its 50,000 square foot lease through 2021. To better serve the University and its more than 600 students and faculty, The Ratkovich Company has renovated more than 20,000 square feet of existing structures and relocated most of the University’s classrooms to the Fosselman Building. The renovated area now provides the University with adjustable classroom space, modernized facilities, and a new clinic for their students to provide the community with mental health services while also earning clinic hours toward their graduate degrees in psychology. Kevin Duffy and Jenny Wilhite with CBRE represented The Ratkovich Company with Scott Williams of Gremel-Williams and Brendan Monaghan of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank representing Alliant International University.

“Alliant International University was quickly growing out of its existing space and we’re thrilled that The Ratkovich Company was willing to invest in the property and our relationship to create a campus that best suits our current and future needs,” said Stephanie Byers-Bell, campus director at Alliant International University.  “We look forward to many more years at The Alhambra.”

The County of Los Angeles, already The Alhambra’s largest tenant, has leased an additional 17,000 square feet through 2019, bringing their total lease space to 214,000 square feet. The new premises, an expansion of the Department of Public Health’s presence at The Alhambra, will house its Substance Abuse and Prevention and its Adult Treatment and Recovery functions. The Department of Public Health will take occupancy in the newly renovated space in the first quarter of 2014 and will be hiring new staff. Damon Feldmeth with CBRE represented The Ratkovich Company with Kevin Webb of Los Angeles County representing the Department of Public Health.
