Private Equity Buyouts Down, IPO Deals Up in Retail in 2013

Retail acquisitions are getting bigger as the economy improves. A year-end study from research firm PwC shows that the average merger/acquisition deal size in the retail and consumer sectors rose by 67 percent from 2012 to 2013, to $399 million. The total value for all transactions also passed the $100 billion mark for the first time since 2008.
