TROPHY CLUB PLAZA (Trophy Club, Texas): Well executed design, which gives quality to the community.

Coming together

Trophy Club Plaza is considered a contemporary interpretation of the Texas Hill Country architectural style; using stone, metal roofing and wooden brackets as the primary design elements. The design mission for the project was to create an architecturally distinctive retail center that would fulfill the strict development design standards of the Town of Trophy Club.

The team's objective was to plan an easily accessible neighborhood retail center that would provide a pleasing shopping environment for the community and successful positioning for the retailers. In the category of New or Renovated Neighborhood/Community Centers, Dallas-based O'Brien & Associates Inc. was awarded the 2001 SADI for its design work on the project.

A significant challenge faced in planning the site was that the rear 25% of the center was in a flood plain. Up to five ft. of fill dirt was installed at some locations to raise the finish grade behind the short depth retail buildings.

The distinctive design of Trophy Club Plaza makes it an outstanding component of the community. It is a successful retail center, which draws the neighborhood together, provides convenient shopping for consumers and promotes economic success in the town.
